SCAHA held its Annual Organization Meeting last night, May 15, 2012. Congratulations to the new SCAHA Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner as they assume their roles, effective immediately.

The new SCAHA Commissioner is Bob Driffill. You can reach Bob at bdriffill@pacbell.net. Bob has served in many capacities over the last several years and is a longstanding member of both the CAHA and SCAHA Board of Directors. Bob was recently the President of the California Golden Bears which plays out of Burbank.

The new SCAHA Deputy Commissioner is Helen Alex. You can reach Helen at Halexhkypuck@aol.com. Helen too has served in many capacities and is currently working with the Jr. Kings. Her background includes managing teams, running tournaments, and various club level responsibilities.

Sandy Blumberg has retired from SCAHA, but will serve in an advisory capacity as a special officer as long as necessary to ensure a smooth transition.

John Silberstein has resigned his interim Deputy Commissioner position but will remain as the SCAHA Parliamentarian/Legal Counsel.

Wendy Goldstein has retired from SCAHA as league Member Services. Nancy Hodge (formerly the CAHA Tier II Commissioner) will replace Wendy. Nancy Hodge can be reached at DUX8FAN@aol.com.

More changes will be made at the next SCAHA meeting which will be held in June.

- Friday: check-in begins at 4 pm, clinic runs from 5 pm-10 pm with a reception immediately following.

- Sunday: continental breakfast at 8 am; clinic runs from 9 am-noon.

The Southern California Amateur Hockey Association (SCAHA), the Los Angeles Kings, and the Los Angeles Kings Alumni Association presented by Toyota are proud to announce the recipients of the 2011-2012 Scholastic Financial Assistance Awards.

The LA Kings Alumni Association Award goes to Andrew Galgas of the California Titans Midget 18AA team. The LA Kings Award goes to Aaron Zlotnick of the San Diego Ice Arena Oilers Midget 18AA team.

These players have demonstrated both a high degree of hockey excellence, sportsmanship and dedication to the game, as well as dedication to continued education and advancement of their career aspirations. SCAHA and the Kings are pleased to present each of the awardees a $1,500 scholarship to help continue their education goals.

Congratulations to Andrew and Aaron for their well deserved award. SCAHA and the Kings wish them continued success in both their hockey and education goals!
