The minutes of the July meeting tabled for next meeting.

Commissioner’s Report

Bob Doherty reminded the board of the upcoming SCAHA Managers’ meeting to be held on Sunday, August 17, 2008 at 9 am at the Phoenix Club in Anaheim.

Bob Doherty opened discussion on the second proposal regarding scheduling and the increasing costs of fuel that was submitted to him via email in June. To recap from last month’s meeting, the second proposal concerns divisions that have teams located at opposite extremities. In order to cut down on the driving, the teams would play double header games in their scheduled weekend.

Chris Carcerano stated that under a structure such as this, you may not necessarily get the best teams in the division making playoffs. Bob Doherty added that the need to arrange accommodations for overnight stay may also negate the cost of gas savings originally proposed.  Is this something that the general SCAHA population would like?

Chris added that not all the rinks will have the luxury of providing the ice slots for a double header and it could be troublesome. Ron White suggested that the rinks work with Chris to get these ice slots in sink.

Chris stated in order for SCAHA to seriously consider this proposal, the proposal would have to be resubmitted with a mock schedule showing how this would work for the regular season and which rinks/clubs would be participating in the double headers. The revised proposal would need to be submitted ASAP.

Discussion tabled until September meeting.
