Kevin Culbertson – proposed SCAHA board director-at-large

Robert Doherty called the meeting to order at 7:15 pm.

Minutes

                                                                                                (motion SECONDED and PASSED)

Commissioner’s Report

Bob Doherty asked the board to ratify the Executive Committee member-at-large, Kevin Culbertson.  Motion made to ratify Kevin as the same, by Stacy Chilcoff.                                                                      (motion SECONDED and PASSED)

Bob introduced guest speaker Steve Lang, CAHA President to speak briefly.  Steve reported on various issues, and the ADM model, and announced the Regional Manager.

Bob reminded everyone about the upcoming Managers Meeting scheduled for August 22, 2009 at the Phoenix Club.

Bob announced that Ron White has withdrawn the Jr. Ice Dogs from SCAHA after 32 years as a member organization.

The Ontario Eagles jerseys are unavailable as they are no longer being made, so they are adopting a new jersey that is not in conflict with any other member organization’s.

LAHOA Report

Rick Josker, LAHOA VP, made a number of announcements.  LAHOA is attempting to diversify their involvement and getting club presidents to understand what LAHOA is doing.  They are having clinics in Simi, Anaheim, Valencia and Ontario in the near future and invite the club presidents to attend by paying for them to do so.

Rick further indicated that he and LAHOA want to work closer with SCAHA as we have in the past encourage feedback from SCAHA.  He is also planning on having club/team meetings with LAHOA in the future.

Lastly, He’d encourage anyone who knew of our thought of any players that would be interested in refereeing, to please have them contact LAHOA or him at rjosker@dukesinc.com

Staff Reports

Member Services – Wendy reminded presidents to turn in LOIs as soon as possible.  If you are holding them and don’t intend of fielding a team, to please release the players so they can get on another team.

Birth certificates are needed for players new to SCAHA.

Get your coaches, etc screened.  A large number of people drop off on 9/1 so get your coaches to complete the process ASAP.  They can’t coach unless and until it is done.

Statistician – Was absent, her report was given by others.

New scoresheets will be distributed at the Manager’s Meeting.  Team roster templates for the new scoresheets will be circulated.

Ice Convener – Preliminary calendar was previously circulated.  5 pre-season games, depending on the number of teams in the division.

October 4, 2009 – final declarations are due, and the same will be reviewed with pre-season performance to determine if any team movement is warranted.

Select Camp is December 19 and 20 – one week later than in previous years.  Would like more coaches and representation from various clubs there than in the past.

Current CAHA Tier schedule has been circulated

Team Declarations – some teams are on the bubble with players, please let him know by Friday (8/14) if there are any that he should be aware of as he builds the A/B schedules.  Also, please provide ice times by 8/14 as well.

If you have teams that are in need of players, let him know and he’ll update the website.

The updated SCAHA Guidebook is now on-line.
